The Delhi High Court on 8 April dismissed a plea moved by several Aspirants seeking directions to postpone the Chartered Accountants (CA) Inter and Final examinations till June. The plea was filed by 27 aspirants to reschedule the exams in June as it is clashing with the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Bar and Bench reported.
While dismissing the plea, the bench of Justice C. Harishankar asked the petitioner aspirants, “Is there some law that says there can’t be any exams during Lok Sabha elections?” The plea further stated that transportation and other issues that may arise due to the scheduled dates of Lok Sabha Elections.
The single bench of Justice C Hari Shankar said that mere fact that the candidates may face hardship in undertaking the exam cannot be a ground to derail the exam which is to be taken by approximately 4,26,000 aspirants.
“This court is surprised that such a request has been made,” the court said as quoted by LiveLaw. It further added that elections are to be held on May 7 and 13 and no exam is scheduled for 6th and 12th May.
ICAI CA 2024 May exam schedule
Earlier in March, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had announced the new revised dates amid the Lok sabha polls, however, only the dates of the exams were rejigged.
As per the ICAI revised schedule, Group 1 Inter exams were changed from 3, 5 and 7 May to 3, 5 and 9 May. The CA Inter group II exams were changed from 9, 11 and 13 May to 11, 15, 17 May.
The new dates for the CA Final May exams for Group I was changed from May 2, 4, and 8 instead of the earlier May 2, 4 and 6 while the Group II Final exams were changed from 8, 10, 12 May to 10, 14 and 16 May. ICAI also issued news dates for the the International Taxation — Assessment Test or INTT-AT exams. The exams will now be held on 14 and 16 May.
